The hour before sunrise
The trail begins in darkness, lit only by a guide’s small lamp and the pale edge of the ridge. By the time the first peak catches light, the forest below is still asleep.
Breakfast above the clouds
At the lookout, hot coffee, rye bread and mountain honey arrive from a pack. Nothing elaborate — only exactly what the morning asks for.
